Deep Foundations

Construction activity continues to move forward steadily, with several key milestones achieved over the past week and more groundwork being laid for upcoming phases.

On Monday, VanLaan Concrete successfully completed the next portion of the foundation wall. This marks another important step in establishing the structural base of the project, keeping foundation work on track and aligned with the overall schedule.

Meanwhile, the EV Sitework Division has been actively preparing the site for the next phase of ground improvement. Crews are currently constructing a level working platform using available on-site fill. This platform is essential for supporting Menard’s upcoming operations and ensuring safe, efficient installation conditions.

Menard is scheduled to begin ground improvement work at the end of the month. Their scope includes the installation of Controlled Modulus Columns (CMCs) beneath the foundation. These columns will play a critical role in stabilizing the underlying soils, helping to improve load-bearing capacity and reduce settlement—an important investment in the long-term performance of the structure.

In addition to foundation and sitework progress, temporary access modifications have been implemented to maintain safe building operations during construction. A temporary egress door has been installed from the existing stairwell, providing a dedicated entrance and exit for staff. This adjustment allows two existing exit doors to be taken offline while work progresses in those areas, without compromising safety or accessibility.

Electrical work is also ramping up. Crews have begun underground electrical installations along the backside of the existing building. This early infrastructure work will support future building systems and ensure a smooth transition into later construction phases.

Overall, the project continues to advance on multiple fronts, with strong coordination between trades helping to maintain momentum and prepare for the next stages of development.
